Ask An Expert: A Live Q&A Series | Women’s Heart Health + SCAD Awareness
Join us for another edition of TGH's "Ask an Expert: A Live Q&A Series" event where our subject matter expert in spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) and TGH SCAD patient will take your pre-submitted & live questions.
Description
Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is a rare and complex heart condition that disproportionately affects young and middle-aged women. A tear in a coronary artery can trigger several cardiac events including heart attack and heart failure. According to the American Heart Association, SCAD patients are “usually postpartum or postmenopausal women who are otherwise healthy. They usually have few or no risk factors for heart disease.”
While there is much research still to be done, TGH’s multispecialty team in the Women’s Heart Program within the Heart and Vascular Institute is working to find answers and share what they know with you. In conjunction with Women’s History Month, TGH presents our latest installment of the Facebook Live ‘Ask an Expert’ series with Daniela Crousillat, MD, on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. The Director of the TGH Women’s Heart Program will be joined by one of her current SCAD patients, Maresa Glass, who is eager to share her story in hopes of increasing awareness about this potentially serious cardiovascular condition.
In addition to hearing Maresa’s first-hand experience, Dr. Crousillat will share more about the risk factors, symptoms, diagnosis and treatments available. After their talk, they will answer pre-submitted and live questions from the chat.
The live presentation will be on TGH's Facebook page and YouTube channel from 12:30- 1:00 p.m. Please pre-register to receive the broadcast link and to pre-submit any questions.
