The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that more than 79 million Americans aged 20 and older, have prediabetes. Most people living with prediabetes do not know they have it. A person with prediabetes has a blood sugar level higher than normal, but not high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes. Prediabetes is a serious health condition that increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
This program is designed to help participants improve lifestyle behaviors, like eating healthier, reducing stress, and getting more physical activity. The program also includes group support from others who share your goals and struggles.
This is a year long commitment. There will be 16 weekly 1-hour sessions, followed by 4 biweekly sessions, then 6 monthly sessions. You must be pre-screened and provide a recent blood glucose blood test between 100-124 to qualify to for this program. Seating is limited and registration is required.
